A Message from a Skunk
Recently while out hiking on a trail near Wickenburg, Arizona, we came across a family of skunks roaming around the park. One of the main messages from the skunk is for using resources wisely. A skunk must pick and choose what it sees as over the line or an attack to use its defense system. It takes several days to rebuild their glands for them to be able to spray again.
What might this message mean for you? Resources represent a variety of things. It can be energy, physical, mental, monetary, even the people you know, or the knowledge in your greater community. It can be your personal resources, like the skunk or those outside you.
For me the message was connected to utilizing October’s lighter schedule in preparation for the next two months. It is about getting set on the behind the scenes work that keeps a business like mine on track. In addition, making sure I am nourishing my body in advance as well as getting a handle on the food that works for me when I have a short window to cook my meals in between visits. It is having the resources in the house for food prep ahead of the shifting schedule. Another message for me is taking the opportunity to rest the body too.
Resources can be about how much movement is too much as to the effects on the body. Does it take you days to recover when previously the aches and twinges would only last a couple of hours or a day? Are you able to pivot the type, level, or length of movement? Skunk assists with getting atop of using these in healthy ways.
