In Beauty

This morning while enjoying being in nature with some pet friends, I was thinking about how enjoyable it was to experience the natural world with them and through their eyes. In essence we were meditating. Some doing a moving or walking meditation around the yard connecting with the rocks at their feet, others grounding through the grass – and all just being while taking in the gentle sounds of nature. The occasional plane flying overhead, cars going by beyond the sanctuary and peace within. Such a Zen way of experiencing the morning together officially welcoming the springing forth of new energy with the elements of wind, sun, earth, space, and water – all connected.

We often think of beauty as something we see, yet I can tell you the beauty of the morning was felt through the environment, by the heart, via our noses as orange blossoms and jasmine offer notes of sweetness to the air and hearing the silence beyond the layers of sound. If we close our eyes, we allow the beauty to touch us in the present moment.

Take a moment, close your eyes, take a deep breath in, and observe through the senses what is around you – what or who are you sharing space within this moment?
