A Situation Leads to Growth
Over this summer, I had a new experience to see myself grow and move through some very unusual experiences. With this one, my business was part of the equation and the second not ever encountered. Overnight assignments are unique in that there are some pieces that change how we might respond typically. These are:
being in a different neighborhood
at someone else’s home
the length of the client relationship
All of these on their own may shift how one responds to the unknown and the levels of the unknown. Yet growth comes from how we choose to respond and the way we can harness the energy of the pause to move through the above vulnerabilities and others.
I can honestly say that a lot of expansion has been occurring with this lesson in both this and the previous situation. The similarities and differences in both provided some benchmarks in thoughts, emotions, and levels of trust. In every experience one can see the multiple perspectives that surface with time or levels of learning. That said, listening to our individual intuition and body beyond the environment opens up other doors.
The similarities consisted of being in a new area or neighborhood and a newer client relationship. The differences were:
day and night
early morning and very late
the level of alertness and the level of surprise
the level of support and the state of dress
the level of emotional energy felt towards me from the other party
All of these are important yet in many ways the latter was the key element as it contributed to what I was feeling throughout the experience and whether there was a threat or level of danger in the situation. The other pieces offered insight into what I was observing in the space, in myself and the options at hand.
What I knew intuitively was that the energy still felt the same as it had earlier in the evening. Meaning that it felt like the people whose house I was in, nothing felt out of the ordinary beyond what I had become aware of in the environment which spoke to the energy of the other individual and the ways in which the pets responded spoke of a comfort level that was unfolding. After checking in with myself and the overall feeling of the situation, I chose to go back to sleep and address the changing landscape in the morning when I had a clearer mind.
Odd experiences can occur at any point in relationships, working with others or being around animal companions. One thing I have been connecting more with in recent months and years is listening and tuning into my awareness, instincts and intuition about experiences. That said there’s nothing that can prepare us for these unusual or unknown situations nor how we will feel in the moment, yet we will definitely find new ways we have grown through the new and different ways we respond.
