The Impact of Animal Meanings on Life
You may ask what the importance of learning about these animal meanings is. Can they possibly add to or impact my life? So, this week, one of the animals mentioned in the quiz was the snake...a favorite I am sure (Ha Ha!). Having said that the Chinese Year of the Snake was in 2013 and for me there was big change in just about every area of my life. One of the messages of the snake medicine is shedding of old skins (beliefs, relationships, items, etc.) that no longer serve us on some level.
In 2013, I felt intuitively that things were changing on the career front, but I did not know how or what that would look like. I knew that the university where I worked was going through restructuring to lead up to a merger. It felt important to move from my home with a lot of external work to a home space with less, so I released:
sixty percent of the stuff,
sold my house of ten years,
went into a smaller rental that allowed me to further reduce my expenditures,
met five colleagues on the campus that all ended up losing their jobs,
lost my job of 13 years,
my last living grandparent passed two weeks later, and
ended a relationship.
Then I started in a very new to me career experience of learning to be seen and as a Reiki practitioner versus the twenty-five years I spent in higher education working with customer relationship software systems among other things. During this year, I continued to face fears and take huge leaps into the unknown. With the loss of the job and the loss of my grandmother, these triggered a combined year-long emotional grieving process on top of learning to be this new me.
The understanding of the snake meanings also helped me as I worked through who I was and what did I want to be doing with my career. The life force energy meaning also helped me see these changes in another perspective - what was energizing versus depleting me on a physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual level and getting to the truth of the matter.
These changes were the foundation for being able to shift my mindset, help heal, open myself to an amazing journey and to create my business, Dream Pet Care in 2016.
