A Get-Together with Friends

Once your animal family has been with me awhile whether it is one vacation or many, a friendship begins building.  Just like those of the two-legged variety. These friendships entail the favorite activities that your pet kid(s) like doing with me or our routines that get established over the visits.

With one such canine friend, we greet one another with love and hugs followed by having breakfast and move onto sitting on the patio lounge together watching the sky and day awakening. We listen to the birds, feel the coolness shift to warmth while lovingly connecting through touch with each other. In the evenings after dinner, we concluded our day in a similar fashion watching the sky shift to night and the birds settle down. On warmer or colder days, one could find us enjoying one another through connection on the couch or floor with her head on my lap and my hand gently petting her.

With a feline friend, our visits began with me sitting on the floor for our greeting session. She told me about her night since I last saw her. I got up and verbally asked was type of wet food she wanted and honoring what I received in a knowing or feeling put it on the plate. As part of our routine brushing and/or Reiki came next after which she ate some and groomed herself. The next trip in our circular journey around her home was to move into the living room where there was an hour-long song we enjoyed listening to. With it the key was connecting via presence together before I went to do litterbox cleanup. Most of the time that was followed by a treat as I was leaving. Periodically, she asked for more love and connection before being open to me leaving. Sometimes they are needing just a little more for whatever reason.

With another feline friend, the ritual begins at the door. As I enter, she is waiting and talking to me immediately. Then jumps down from a bench to start rubbing herself gently over the front of my legs as I remove my shoes and walk toward the kitchen. With each step, she continues brushing herself against me as we continue to close in on the initial destination. After getting her food prepped, she requests I play frequency music that I have on my phone, and we sit together connecting for the remainder of our visit together. She is one that likes to touch others, but not necessarily be the recipient of touch.

It is always honoring their choices in how they wish to engage just as with people.
