Crossing Paths with New Critters

What can seeing unlikely critters on a morning hike represent as a message to us as we walk our own paths? It all depends on our thoughts, actions, and experiences in our life, relationships, or business at the time we meet the creature or animal.

What stage are you at or where are you in reaching your goals or your life? Often remembering or being aware of what was on our thoughts or self-talk at the time of the sighting or experience is a key component to the animal, insect, or being showing up whether physically or visibly in our mind or via an external stimulus such as in a magazine, poster, ad, or social media post to name a few. It is about how you are drawn to the symbol as to whether you are being given a message. When you cannot seem to get it out of your mind there is something for you.

Now that the groundwork is laid, let’s talk about my sighting, the timing with other messages and the greater meanings through on the spot awareness and further with much reflection. The critter, a caterpillar called a white-lined sphinx caterpillar or hornworm as they are sometimes named in their larvae stage. An unlikely sighting on the trail and only in one area as I was hiking along a frequently used trail. Critters moving on their journey two- to five- weeks before heading underground or into a silk chrysalis to emerge into a hummingbird moth. They are named such due to the way they eat hovering over a flower like a hummingbird.

On this day, these caterpillars were traveling towards me and the path I was on. Some crossing over it to reach nourishment in the form of a clover-like ground plant to fill themselves up before heading into a hibernation of sorts, before emerging as the moth ready to fly!

Why this critter now? There are a lot of internal shifts I am making within myself as well as incremental changes in my business, life, and mindset. Implementing new ideas and projects to continue moving forward to the next stage in my growth. What does this caterpillar represent? That I will be heading into a stage of silence or enforced downtime with the help of a vacation before these shifts are prepared to emerge ready for flight or to hit the ground running. Understanding the timing this critter moves through its transformation helps me comprehend the importance of my impending vacation as a sort of dormancy or hibernation before rebirth into the next phase.

Messages are everywhere. Some just around the next corner while other literally cross our path to be delivered to us. I extend gratitude to the white-lined sphynx caterpillar and the hummingbird moth it will transform into for sharing its message with me.
